Havelock Square, Sandymount, Dublin 4

This project involved the extension of a double pitched single storey Victorian villa.

The height, size and architectural character of the extension was limited due to this exposed corner site being located in an architectural conservation area.

The existing bathroom was relocated in order to extend the central corridor from the front door and connect with a new open plan living space to the rear. New bathrooms and services areas were incorporated either the side of the newly extended corridor.

The orientation to the rear of the house is north-east so we introduced high level windows in order to maximise light from the south-west in the open plan living space.

This project incorporates a number of sustainable features; it is super insulated, high efficiency boiler programmable heating controls and a flue mounted heat exchanger for hot water.

We provided full architectural and engineering services on this project.
